The need for women’s healthcare products and services has recently expanded and received more focus, but several categories are still poorly developed. One such area is menopause care, an important and pressing concern for millions of women around the globe. However, it is essential to understand that although menopause is a common experience for many women, it is still not widely discussed and women going through it often feel alone.
And then comes Natalie – the founder of PAUZ Health, a company focused on changing the narrative of menopause and empowering women to reclaim their well-being. Natalie has rich corporate experience, but she decided to change her life and fight the difficulties of menopause.
Today we have the pleasure to interview Natalie about her transition from a corporate career to a passionate advocate for women’s health, especially in perimenopause and menopause periods.
- Why did you decide to change careers from the corporate environment to starting up PAUZ Health?
It was more starting to listen to my inner voice, I always have had an entrepreneur spirit but squashed it for decades telling myself the time wasn’t right, until I hit perimenopause. As I entered into perimenopause, unaware and starting speaking to women, researching, and experience the crisis that exists for women, I knew I had to do something.
- Is there any particular incident or event that contributed to your understanding of the necessity of providing adequate attention and care to women going through menopause?
It was the culmination of multiple factors coming together at once. Watching how women do not even know they are in perimenopause and are facing symptoms that massively disrupt their family, relationships, and work life, and such limited access to trained clinical experts couple with the discourse of fear around hormone therapy, it was a call to action.
- In what way does Pauz Health plan to solve the problem of insufficient expertise concerning a healthy lifestyle during the menopause period?
PAUZ is a health and wellness platform that supports women with trusted evidence based information on topics important to them. We provide ‘liaison’ tailored services including lifestyle coaching, dietician, pelvic floor physio and other clinical support both for direct care and help navigating the health system. Finally, our market place is the place to go for products that are effective, safe, and promote feeling and looking your best.
- Based on your practice, what are the main concerns that women encounter when managing perimenopause and menopause?
Perimenopause is very personalized and individual, that is why tailored one-on-one support is so critical. Certainly some of the most common concerns include hot flashes, brain fog, mood swings, muscle and bone health, as well as sexual health.
- What do you believe is the future of longevity research and menopause care?
It is an extremely exciting time, women are coming together and pushing the advocacy for women’s health research and care. Governments are investing in research programs through funding and more companies are emerging to support women.
- In your opinion, what’s the purpose of technology in enhancing the delivery of menopause education and support?
Technology serves many purposes, it opens the door to access for women and opens up ‘choice’ for women. For women living in remote and rural areas this is critical.
