Changing Healthcare – One Holistic Approach at a Time

Healthcare can be overwhelming, especially for women who often have unique healthcare needs that are often neglected. But one physician is changing the narrative, one holistic approach at a time. Dr. Amy Holda Gueye-Weinstein, a board-certified OBGYN, is the owner and medical director of the Visionary Women’s Health clinic in Columbia, Maryland. Her clinic takes a unique approach to healthcare that prioritizes patients’ mental and physical well-being.

Dr. Gueye-Weinstein’s journey started at the age of 13 when she lived in West Africa for two years. During this time, she realized that the most fundamental desire for every human being is the desire to be healthy. This realization sparked her desire to become a physician, and she later founded her non-profit organization, HALFA (Holda’s Access Life Foundation), in 2012 to help African countries achieve the health standards they deserve.

After working in multiple healthcare settings in the United States, Dr. Gueye-Weinstein realized that the American healthcare system has its problems. Doctors were burning out, not only because they were working too much, but also because they were not given the tools to fulfill their highest purpose and promise to patients. Physicians are required to see 24-30 patients in one day in an outpatient clinic setting or work unnatural hours such as 24-hour shifts or more in the hospital setting. They are not given enough time to truly heal patients in the clinic, and they are not functioning at top performance in the hospital while also not being fully present for their families, hobbies, friends, and more.

Patients suffer from frustration, feeling dismissed or unheard, and have to see multiple doctors before a proper treatment is given. They cannot reach their provider easily during business hours, and even less after hours, and are at the mercy of their insurance policy to determine what recommendations from their doctor they can actually receive. Our emergency rooms are overflowing with ailments that could have been handled by their outpatient physician if they were just accessible, and places that are designed to help patients get well are anxiety-driving from their crowds, poor bedside manner and/or staff interactions, and more.

To combat these issues, Dr. Gueye-Weinstein founded Visionary Women’s Health. This clinic eliminates all of the frustrations mentioned above by intentionally creating a space that is therapeutic in every way. The clinic only hires kind staff and providers with superior bedside manners and ensures direct easy access to providers with a no-rush approach to appointments.

Furthermore, what sets Visionary Women’s Health apart from other clinics is that they are the only office that combines a therapeutic environment, no-rush visits, access providers, and a bonus access to concierge care. Patients can make same-day or next-day appointments, access the doctor 24/7, see Dr. Gueye-Weinstein exclusively, and receive a holistic comprehensive health report every year to prevent chronic disease and unexpected health catastrophes.

Dr. Gueye-Weinstein’s approach to healthcare is rooted in emotional intelligence, where empathy and understanding are essential to building strong relationships with patients. Dr. Gueye uses her additional skills as a spiritual life and wellness coach to deliver amazing transformations to her patients who are also coaching clients in very little time. She understands that mental and emotional well-being are crucial components of overall health and wellness. This understanding informs her holistic approach to healthcare, which prioritizes patients’ mental and physical well-being. She is changing the healthcare landscape and the world is eager and ready for what she has to offer.
